IRAN ~ Strikes between Iran and the U.S. appeared to have come to a stop Friday morning after two days of renewed fighting between the nations.
The strikes continued after the tenuous ceasefire fell apart earlier this week, with the U.S strikes killing at least 14 people, according to the Iranian Health Ministry. Regional mediators are now trying to resume peace talks between the U.S. and Iran as traffic through the Strait of Hormuz slows once again.
Strikes were reported from inside Iran near both military and civilian areas, including a nuclear power plant for public use in Bushehr city and at a fishing port located in Asaluyeh. President Donald Trump said that U.S. attacks began after alleged strikes from Iran on commercial freighters in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran later announced that it launched attacks against U.S. military targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
Former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was buried in his hometown of Mashhad on Thursday after millions of citizens attended funeral processions for nearly a week. He was killed by Israeli airstrikes, alongside members of his family.
Over 3,400 people have been killed in Iran since the U.S. and Israel launched a joint war against the nation in late February. About two dozen deaths have been reported in Israel.
