June 18, 2026 ~ Steve St. Juliana reacts after a former Oxford school administrator speaks out, raising new questions about school safety.
OXFORD, MI ~ A parent of an Oxford High School shooting victim is speaking out after a former school administrator was announced to be a keynote speaker in July as a school safety expert.
Jill Lemond, vice president of education at Evolv Technology, was selected as the keynote speaker after the company’s weapons detector recently caught a student carrying a stolen gun into a Nashville high school, according to the Detroit News. However, she is also the former assistant superintendent of Oxford Community Schools when the shooting took place in 2021 that killed four students and injured seven others.
Steve St. Juliana, father of Oxford shooting victim Hana St. Juliana, told WJR that,”She’s using what happened at Oxford as a basis to build her professional career without acknowledging her failures in what happened at Oxford. I have no issues with her speaking about what happened and working to keep guns out of schools. I applaud that effort. But to do so without acknowledging her failures and the failures of the rest of the administration at Oxford, I think, is disingenuous and is incredibly irresponsible.“
