EAST LANSING ~ Michigan State Athletics is taking a significant step into the evolving landscape of college sports with a new 10-year jersey patch partnership with MSU Federal Credit Union. The agreement marks a first for the Big Ten Conference, as Michigan State becomes the first school in the league to secure a jersey patch sponsor across all sports. Beginning in the 2026-27 athletic season, every Spartan men’s and women’s team will wear the MSUFCU logo on their uniforms, signaling not just a marketing deal, but a visible alignment between two closely connected institutions.
The scope of the partnership stands out. MSUFCU branding will appear on game-day jerseys, practice gear and the Spartan football helmet bumper. At a time when college athletics continues to evolve through name, image and likeness opportunities and increased commercialization, the move reflects Michigan State’s willingness to adapt while maintaining strong ties to its community. Rather than partnering with an outside corporation, the university is leaning into a relationship with an organization that has longstanding campus roots.

(CONTINUED) That connection dates back to 1937, when MSUFCU was founded by Michigan State faculty and staff. Since then, it has grown into a financial institution serving more than 400,000 members nationwide. Despite that growth, its identity remains tied to the Spartan community. The two organizations have collaborated on initiatives such as the MSUFCU Club at Spartan Stadium and the Women of Sparta program, which supports the development of female student-athletes beyond competition. The new agreement will also include expanded financial education programming for student-athletes.
University and MSUFCU leaders framed the partnership as an extension of shared values. In a statement, MSU Executive Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer Jon Palumbo called the agreement “a symbol of our rooted history and aligned strategic vision.” MSUFCU President and CEO April Clobes emphasized the focus on supporting student-athletes and the broader Spartan community. As the partnership rolls out, the jersey patch will serve as a visible reminder of a relationship built on trust, opportunity and a shared commitment to Michigan State.
