DETROIT ~ A Michigan woman who disappeared during a Bahamas trip with her husband has triggered a U.S. Coast Guard search in the country, with reports suggesting the case is being treated as a possible homicide investigation.
Hooker, 55, went missing April 8 when she and her husband, Brian Hooker, 59, were boating toward Elbow Cay on their yacht, “Soulmate.” The husband told Bahamian police that his wife fell off a dinghy and was carried away by currents. He also claimed he had to paddle his way back to shore after she fell overboard.
Coast Guard divers will be searching the area for Lynette Hooker and any clues as to what led to her disappearance. The investigation is a federal criminal investigation.
He was arrested in connection with Lynette Hooker’s disappearance shortly after her disappearance, but was later released and has since returned to the U.S. He has denied inflicting any harm to his wife.
