MICHIGAN ~ About 250,000 people face losing health insurance coverage if negotiations between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Michigan Medicine fall apart.
The deadline to reach a new contract between the hospital system and the insurance provider is set for June 30, with Blue Cross already telling many of it memebrs that they should start looking for health care elsewhere or face out-of-network charges. The insurance provider will continue to cover 48,000 patients with “certain serious, life-threatening conditions” for 90 days after the contract expires if an agreement is not reached.
