PITTSBURGH, PA. ~ Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night at 8 p.m., and the Detroit Lions have a number of holes they could choose to fill with the 17th overall pick.
Two positions of immediate need are offensive tackle and defensive end, and one name that has been linked by the national media to the Lions is former Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor. Another potential name, and position, that could be called is former Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, despite injury concerns after suffering a torn ACL in Jan. 2025.
Detroit General Manager Brad Holmes is no stranger to draft night trades, and with multiple picks in the fifth and sixth rounds, there could be some movement on Friday night or Saturday afternoon, if not Thursday night. Tight end Sam LaPorta has also been a topic of trade discussions as his contract is set to expire in 2027.
