DETROIT, MICH. ~ Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield, CEO of the Detroit Local Organizing Committee for the Detroit Sports Commission Dave Beachnau and Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison all shared a preview of what fans can expect when the 2027 Final Four tips off from Ford Field Thursday afternoon at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. For the first time since 2009, Detroit will host the four best college basketball teams of next season, partnering with Michigan State University for the event. From fan events, like concerts, happening throughout the downtown area, to the actual games inside Ford Field, Detroit is preparing for the weekend to pay off even more than the NFL Draft.
“That’s the one thing that the NCAA would like us to do is promote more about the other events that will be taking place Final Four weekend because it’s a ticket application process for the general fans to purchase tickets. I think we’ll have more people in town,” Beachnau said when asked about the possibility of both MSU and the University of Michigan making it to Ford Field next April.
