As AI technology rapidly evolves, scams utilizing the tech are evolving with it, potentially costing U.S. residents billions of dollars a year.
More and more cases of people using AI to automate phishing attacks, bypass security systems, generate sophisticated malware, and create deepfakes to scam people or trap organizations with ransomware.
“The cybercrime industry, if you will, is getting larger and larger,” Awecomm CEO Brent Yax told WJR. “People are finding there are opportunities to make money there, so of course, that’s growing. More people are getting involved, but the reality is these tools keep getting better. So what we’re seeing is the fact that even the less sophisticated hackers now have opportunities to be successful because they’re leveraging things like advanced AI tools.”
