March 12, 2026 ~ Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield discussed her first budget with Chris, Lloyd & Jamie.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ In Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield’s first ever budget proposal, a major focus has been placed on the security of neighborhoods and supporting those that live below the poverty line. Sheffield suggested that $4.5 billion should be placed into funds, with $3 billion going across all city funds while $1.5 billion goes to the general fund. 2027’s budget has to operate with $34.6 million less than 2026’s fund. Sheffield’s goal of helping the less fortunate has been emphasized with her effort around the Detroit Department of Transportation.
“We made some heavy investments in sidewalk repair, backlog requests, public safety, youth, and education,” Sheffield said on ‘JR Morning.
