TUCSON, AZ ~ A man who was detained for questioning in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been released.
The individual was questioned for several hours after a traffic stop near Rio Rico, a town 51 miles south of Tucson. During an interview, he said he had not heard about Nancy Guthrie, but he hoped she would be found safe.
“I hope they get the suspect, because I’m not it,” he said, speaking on the doorstep of his wife and mother-in-law’s home. The development came just hours after the FBI released newly recovered surveillance images showing an armed, masked individual tampering with the camera at her Tucson home on the morning she vanished. Authorities say the footage retrieved from residual backend data depicts a gloved figure carrying a backpack and possibly a weapon.
