Feb. 2, 2026 ~ Matthew Schneider, former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, talks to Chris Renwick, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds about a federal judge ruling that ICE operations in Minnesota can continue.
MINNEAPOLIS ~ Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-year-old boy who was detained on Jan. 20 by federal agents, was returned to Minneapolis alongside his father on Sunday as anti-ICE protests continue in the city.
The arrest of Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, garnered nationwide backlash, with a photo of the 5-year-old in a blue bunny hat being detained by ICE going viral. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery ordered the release of the father-son duo from a Texas immigrant detention center, adding that the detainments have their “genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently-implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children.”
Tensions are still high in Minneapolis as activists continue anti-ICE actions in the city, as the Trump administration sends mixed signals on whether or not it will pull back its crackdown on immigrants.
