MICHIGAN ~ Oakland County entrepreneur Perry Johnson announced on Monday that he will run for governor of Michigan, his second bid for the role following his unsuccessful bid in 2022.
He will join the already crowded field in the GOP primary, with seven other names vying to be Michigan’s top leader. He said that he plans on spending about $9 million on his campaign ahead of the primary election on Aug. 4.
“I’ve spent my entire life bringing quality and efficiency to businesses,” Johnson told WJR. “I currently work every day, that’s true, and I think we have somewhere between 40 and 60 thousand company clients. It’s about time that I do the same for the state of Michigan. I want us to keep our money. Take a look at what’s happened. I don’t want my kids leaving the state. I want to be in a position where this state flourishes, and people want to come here.“
