Jan. 27, 2026 ~ Tax season in the U.S. launched Monday, with some new changes for taxpayers in place due to federal laws.
One change is for seniors over the age of 65, who can claim a $6,000 federal deduction, with senior couples able to deduct up to $12,000. Standard deductions are set at $15,750 for single filers and $31,500 for married couples. Tax forms must be submitted to the IRS by April 15.
