DETROIT ~ President Donald Trump is set to visit Detroit on Tuesday to tour a Ford Motor Co. factory and likely try to tout his efforts to grow manufacturing.
His visit will also include a speech at the Detroit Economic Club in the afternoon, the same week the Detroit Auto Show kicks off. Trump’s speech also comes at a time when the country continues to disapprove of the economy under the president during his first year, with a recent poll from Detroit News and WDIV-TV finding that 64% of Michigan respondents saw their household costs increase over the past year, particularly with food and groceries. This poll also said that 48% of respondents see Trump’s economic policies as weakening the national economy, with 38% said they have made it stronger.
In the 2024 election, Trump won the state of Michigan with 49.7% of the vote.
