Gov. Whitmer Declares Michigan’s Literacy Rates Top Priority in 2026

MICHIGAN ~ During the recent Michigan Literacy Summit at the Michigan Science Center, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said her top focus for her last year in office will be tackling the state’s literacy issues. In 2024, Michigan ranked only 44th in the U.S. for fourth-grade reading skills.
