MICHIGAN ~ There are clear frontrunners in the Democrat and Republican primaries to become Michigan’s next governor.
A new poll from Mitchell Research & Communications found that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (48%) has a strong lead over Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist (12%) and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson (5%) in the Democrat primary. John James (48%) was in the lead, with former Attorney General Mike Cox (11%) in second place. In a hypothetical general election with the frontrunners, James leads Benson at 37% to 31%, with independent candidate and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan 18% in third place.
