A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for a young man accused of shooting and wounding two Detroit police officers.
19 year old Juwan Plummer says he thought the officers were criminals trying to break into his home.
Police had responded to a burglary call back on April 16th.
While searching the area, they approached they home of Plummer and his family.
Plummer said he feared for the safety of his family and fired one shot from inside the home.
One officer was hit by two shotgun pellets to the face.
The other officer suffered a grazed wound to his arm.
Both are recovering.
Prosecutors say such a shooting can’t be condoned … explaining, what if it had been a child or some other innocent person approaching the home.
