ANN ARBOR ~ Former University of Michigan Head Football Coach Sherrone Moore appeared via video in Washtenaw County District Court on Friday. During the session, he was formally charged with third‑degree felony home invasion, misdemeanor stalking, and breaking and entering. The judge set his bond at $25,000 cash and ordered GPS monitoring, no contact with the alleged victim, continued mental health treatment, and the surrender of any weapons and his passport.
Prosecutors described an incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon—shortly after Moore was fired—during which he allegedly forced his way into the Pittsfield Township apartment of a university staffer, brandished knives, and threatened self-harm while accusing her of ruining his life. The woman contacted 911, though Moore left before officers arrived. He was later arrested in Saline and booked at the Washtenaw County Jail.
The university dismissed Moore from his $5.5 million annual contract on Dec. 10 after determining that credible evidence existed of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Moore, 39, has no prior criminal record. The felony home invasion count carries up to five years in prison; the stalking and breaking-and-entering misdemeanors carry lesser penalties. A probable cause hearing is set for Jan. 22, 2026, at 9 a.m.
