A Western Michigan University Basketball player has been charged with murdering a fellow student.
Police say 20-year-old Joeviair Kennedy of Muskegon will be arraigned for his role in last Thursday’s fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jacob Jones. Authorities say Kennedy killed Jones during a robbery attempt. Kennedy was after a phone and cash. The university has suspended him, and he no longer appears on the basketball teams website. Kennedy was averaging 7 minuets a game for the Broncos in his second season with the team. He signed a letter of intent to play for the school back in 2015.
