October 29, 2026 ~ With Election Day quickly approaching, Janice Winfrey, Detroit City Clerk, joins Kevin Dietz to discuss voter turnout, early voting participation, and what residents need to know before casting their ballots.
DETROIT ~ With Election Day approaching, Michigan voters are casting ballots at a strong pace, with nearly 1.4 million residents already voting through absentee or early in-person options. In Detroit, early voting opened with turnout exceeding the first day of early voting during the 2024 presidential election, a sign that many residents are taking advantage of expanded access to the ballot box.
Election officials are encouraging voters who still have absentee ballots to return them through secure drop boxes or election offices rather than relying on the mail. As turnout continues to grow, local election workers are focused on ensuring every vote is counted accurately and helping residents navigate Michigan’s early voting and same-day registration options.
