DETROIT ~ October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors and promote prevention through education and community outreach. The observance encourages individuals and organizations to learn more about the impact of domestic violence and the resources available to those affected.
Throughout the month, advocacy groups, community organizations and local agencies host events and educational programs aimed at increasing awareness and encouraging conversations about healthy relationships and personal safety. Supporters use the month to honor survivors and highlight the importance of access to services, support networks and prevention initiatives.
