ITHACA, N.Y. ~ A Michigan man is among seven former Cornell University students named in a civil lawsuit stemming from allegations of a sexual assault at a fraternity house in 2024. The woman, identified in court records as Jane Doe, alleges she was given drugs and alcohol before being assaulted at the fraternity house, while the lawsuit also names organizations connected to the fraternity and a nearby nightclub as defendants.
Attorneys for the Michigan man deny the allegations, saying their client was only briefly in the room and that the woman appeared to be OK at the time. As the civil case moves forward, New York prosecutors have reopened their review of the allegations, although no criminal charges have been filed.
