September 29, 2026 ~ September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Marie Osborne joins Kevin to share more on the latest research being done for Ovarian Cancer.
DETROIT ~ A new study from Corewell Health is exploring whether removing only the fallopian tubes could help reduce the risk of ovarian cancer in women with a higher genetic risk for the disease. Researchers hope the approach could provide protection while allowing some women to keep their ovaries, preserving fertility options and avoiding some of the effects associated with early menopause.
Doctors say the research reflects broader advances in ovarian cancer prevention and treatment, including genetic testing and targeted therapies designed to attack specific mutations linked to the disease. Experts encourage women with a family history of breast, ovarian or colon cancer to speak with their doctor about genetic testing as researchers work to develop more personalized prevention strategies.
