Gibbs’ Three-TD Performance Lifts Lions Past Jets

DETROIT ~ Former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn received a warm welcome back to Ford Field, but his Jets left empty-handed as Detroit rallied for a 31-24 victory Sunday. After New York erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, Jared Goff connected with Jahmyr Gibbs for the game-winning 11-yard touchdown with 2:25 remaining, helping the Lions improve to 2-1.

Gibbs starred for Detroit, totaling 164 yards from scrimmage with 99 rushing yards, 65 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Goff completed 25 of 32 passes for 269 yards and two scores. The Jets received a strong effort from Geno Smith, who threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, and Garrett Wilson, who caught 10 passes for 107 yards and a score, but a late fumble ended New York’s comeback bid.
