Joan Belgrave Honors Late Husband and Jazz Legend Marcus Belgrave with Documentary

Sept. 14, 2026 ~ Lloyd Jackson is joined by Joan Belgrave, the widow and former musical partner of Marcus Belgrave, to talk about her documentary that celebrates the legacy of her late husband.

DETROIT, MICH. ~ To honor the late American jazz trumpeter Marcus Belgrave’s career, his widow, Joan Belgrave, created a documentary to celebrate his life.

The film “…And Damn He Could Play,” directed by Timashion Jones, follows his career working with legendary artists like Ray Charles and others, including the best of the best at Motown.

The documentary has been accepted to the DOC NYC Documentary Festival, which appears Nov. 12-19 in New York City.
