IRAN ~ The U.S.-Iran War has flared up once again after the U.S. launched a wave of deadly strikes in Iran, including on a wedding ceremony, prompting retaliatory strikes across the region.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that a U.S. missile struck a residence in the county of Sirik where a wedding was taking place, which killed four civilians and injured over 50, with one child being part of the death toll. Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, accused the U.S. of committing a war crime.
“The truth of this unlawful war of choice – and the true face of the war crime – is in Sirik, where a wedding ceremony was brutally bombed as part of America’s desperate struggle to conceal its failure,” he wrote on X.
President Donald Trump claimed on Truth Social that the strikes were in response to an alleged failed attempt at installing sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been the center point in negotiations since the U.S. and Israel began the war back in February due to the waterway’s importance to the global oil trade. He said that Iran “will be hit again at a much harder and higher level” if the nation retaliates.
Iran launched its retaliatory strikes on Wednesday, hurling missiles and drones at U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the U.S. will receive “unforgettable lessons” in response to the U.S. airstrikes.
Trump appears to be far less interested in direct negotiations with Iran, posting on Truth Social after the strikes werer launched that he is, “not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported. I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement. I like our position now much better.“
