MICHIGAN ~ Metro Detroit has some of the worst air quality globally right now, as smoke from Canadian wildfires covers the state of Michigan, triggering air quality alerts.
Sights of hazy skies and smells of smoke permeated many parts of metro Detroit Wednesday, and continue to linger over the state Thursday. The air quality index of Detroit was measured at 626 Thursday morning, ranking Michigan as having “hazardous” air. Michigan had the highest API in the world, according to IQair.com.
The air quality alerts were issued for Wednesday and Thursday by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, with health advisors recommending limiting outdoor time, keeping windows closed, and running central air conditioning with higher-rated filters.
