DETROIT ~ A UAW watchdog claimed that union President Shawn Fain abused his authority to unfairly punish a former union leader and benefit his fiancée and her sister.
New York attorney and UAW monitor Neil Barofsky filed a report that accuses Fain of overstepping in his responsibilities when he removed Vice President Rich Boyer from his role in leading the union’s Stellantis department, claiming the reasons for doing so were unfounded or exaggerated. Fain denied the allegations, claiming Barofsky was politically motivated due to the union’s pro-ceasfire stance regarding Gaza.
