DETROIT, MICH. ~ Ford and General Motors are stepping back into the defense spotlight as United States President Donald Trump calls for more U.S.-made weapons as conflict continues globally.
“The Detroit manufacturers have had decades and decades, really more than a century of experience,” Eisenstein said on Focus. “Remember, they were involved heavily in production of weaponry and the like for World War I, dating back to our involvement in 1917, ’18. So this is a historical tie.”
Last Tuesday, defense contractor Lockheed Martin partnered up with GM Defense LLC in order to more than triple production over the next several years. Overseas, Ford attended Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, and showcased its fleet of tactical and utility vehicles while talking with European governments about their defense needs.
