DETROIT ~ On Tuesday, the Detroit City Council approved an ordinance to extend curfew hours during the 2026 Ford Fireworks on Monday.
Approved in a 6-2 vote, the curfew will apply to unaccompanied minors from 8 p.m. June 22 to 6 a.m. June 23. The curfew was approved amid concerns over “teen takeovers” Downtown that have resulted in gun-related injuries. Councilmember Denzel McCampbell, who voted against the ordinance, voiced concerns that the curfew would not be an effective way to combat violent incidents.
