DETROIT, MICH. ~ Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield sent out a Rise Higher Detroit survey earlier this year to hear what concerns city residents have, and more than 8,000 responded.
Some of the top issues on the largest community engagement effort in the city’s history included neighborhood maintenance, youth education, and lack of reliable transportation.
Sheffield has released a community framework, created using the survey and knowledge from community leaders, in effort to expand and strengthen programs and policies across these areas of need.
“We said from the beginning that this Administration would govern alongside the people of Detroit, and this framework is proof of that commitment,” Sheffield said in a statement on Monday, June 15. “We reached people all over the city, listened to what they said they needed most and turned those voices into a framework for action.”
