DEARBORN, MICH. ~ Friday marks the grand opening of the Dr. Sullivan and Mrs. Richie Jean Sherrod Jackson Home in Greenfield Village to the public.
This is the first new home addition to the village in over 40 years as the Jackson Home was relocated from Selma, Alabama.
The home is over 100 years old and has witnessed civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. help create the framework of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, while also documenting the Selma to Montgomery marches.
To celebrate, Greenfield Village has extended its hours to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
