June 8, 2026 ~ Senator Elissa Slotkin joins Paul W. Smith live from the Detroit Economic Club.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ United States Senator Elissa Slotkin covered a number of topics with Paul W. Smith live from the Detroit Economic Club on Monday afternoon.
In the segment, Slotkin discussed her past work in the intelligence community, having worked as a CIA analyst, and the current state of politics, including the hiring of Bill Pulte to be Acting Intelligence Chief by United States’ president Donald Trump.
“We can’t find that Bill Pulte ever had a security clearance and handled classified information,” Slotkin said on Focus. “And now you’re going to be the head pooh-bah of all of the classified behind-closed-doors agencies. So I don’t think he has any experience. And actually, per the law, you have to have national security experience to have this job permanently. That’s in law.”
She also mentioned her work in blocking Trump’s $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization fund,” which took bipartisan support and an all-night vote on Thursday, and her reactions to the sexual assault controversies that have forced politicians like California governor candidate Eric Swalwell to withdraw along with her up-to-date economic priorities.
