WASHINGTON D.C. ~ A slim majority of Congress made its disapproval of President Donald Trump’s war on Iran clear on Wednesday, voting to halt military operations in Iran, with a Michigan Republican representative joining to check the president’s war powers.
The House voted 215-208 on the resolution aiming to prevent Trump from further actions in Iran under the War Powers Resolution, with GOP Reps. Tom Barrett (MI-7), Warren Davidson (OH-8), Thomas Massie (KY-4), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-8) joining Democrats in approving it. The resolution still needs to be approved by the Senate, but it does not need Trump’s signature to finalize it.
Barrett introduced a similar bill earlier this year seeking to limit Trump’s war powers, but that has yet to be voted on.
