DETROIT ~ The Detroit Pistons continued their grip on the Eastern Conference semifinals Thursday night, pulling away for a 107–97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 at Little Caesars Arena to take a 2–0 series lead. Detroit set the tone early, playing faster and defending the perimeter with purpose while forcing Cleveland to chase the game most of the night. The Pistons led for more than 90 percent of the contest and never allowed the Cavaliers to fully settle despite several late pushes.
Guard Cade Cunningham again looked comfortable in control of a playoff game, finishing with 25 points and 10 assists while efficiently directing Detroit’s offense. Cunningham shot 7 of 14 from the floor and consistently created opportunities off late help. Forward Tobias Harris added 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting, providing timely scoring whenever Cleveland threatened to make a run.

(CONTINUED) Cleveland struggled to find rhythm beyond guard Donovan Mitchell, who led all scorers with 31 points but needed difficult, high-usage possessions to get there. The Cavaliers shot just 22 percent from 3-point range (7 of 32) and committed 11 turnovers, several leading directly to Pistons fast-break points. Detroit’s physical backcourt disrupted Cleveland’s flow throughout the game.
The Pistons finished the night shooting 50 percent from 3-point range (14 of 28), won the rebounding battle 41–36 and held Cleveland to 97 points, well below its postseason average. With the series shifting to Cleveland for Game 3 on Saturday afternoon, Detroit carries momentum and confidence, signs of a young team continuing to mature under playoff pressure.
