BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. ~ The Oakland Hills Country Club’s new clubhouse is now open to membership more than four years after a devastating fire destroyed the property. Inspired by Howard C. Crane’s 1921 plans, the second floor now holds the grand ballroom, a large change as part of the nearly $100 million project. Along with memorabilia lining the walls, which includes items from golf legends like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, the 110,000 square-foot clubhouse boasts the Hogan Lounge, named after 1951 U.S. Open Winner Ben Hogan, who gave the South Course the nickname “The Monster.”
“Our investment reflects a commitment to not only championship golf at the highest level, but the people who make it what it is today,” President Michael G. Costello said. “This is a place where connections are built, families get together, where the spirit of the game brings people together.”
Oakland Hills will host the 2029 U.S. Women’s Amateur, the 2031 U.S. Women’s Open, and the 2034 U.S. Open.
