April 15, 2026 ~ Fifth Third Michigan Region President Steve Davis joins Ryan Ermanni in studio to discuss the company’s move to establish Detroit as the Michigan regional headquarters, and announcing the last year of Comerica Park.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ After Fifth Third Bancorp bought Comerica Bank in late 2025, Comerica Park will officially be renamed at the end of the 2026 season, Fifth Third Michigan Region President Steve Davis broke to ‘JR Afternoon Wednesday.
“We’re evaluating different names. We will have some revealed in the future,” Davis told Ryan Ermanni. “We haven’t finalized that yet. I think we’ve got some pretty good options that we’re gonna roll out. We’re talking to all the focus groups and our really smart marketing people, etc., to make sure it’s gonna be a good name.”
The news come on the same day as Detroit Tigers’ 21-year-old rookie shortstop Kevin McGonigle signed a 8-year, $150 million extension with Detroit. The contract is set to start in 2027. McGonigle has been off to a hot start to his MLB career, posting a .311 batting average with eight runs batted in and a home run through 17 games.
