DETROIT, MICH. ~ One in sex men experience sexual assault before turning the age of 18. Fox Live Now anchor Ryan Schmelz is a part of this group, as he was abused from the time he was in fifth grade until high school. Despite finding it hard to discuss, disclosing it publicly for the first time just a couple of years ago, Schmelz’s story has helped other men come forward with their stories.
“If your child has a friend that they’ve always been close with, but all of a sudden, they start to not wanna be around that person or be alone with that person the way they used to, it would behoove you to look into that,” Schmelz told WJR Director of Community Affairs and News Marie Osborne on ‘JR Afternoon.
