DETROIT, MICH. ~ Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Mickey Lolich, who etched himself in history books with his legendary 1968 World Series performance, has passed away at age 85. Lolich pitched three complete game wins in the seven-game series which pushed Detroit to victory and Lolich to MVP of the championship series. On top of a historic career, Lolich also was very active in the community. During the 1967 riots in Detroit, he was called by the Air National Guard to be a sergeant in charge of 11 men.
