TUCSON, Ariz. ~ Investigators say DNA lifted from a glove found about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home is now considered a significant development in the search for the missing 84‑year‑old, with testing underway to match the profile against national databases. Officials say the glove appears consistent with those worn by the person seen on doorbell footage the morning Guthrie disappeared.
Shortly after the forensic update, Savannah Guthrie released a new video urging the individual responsible — or anyone with information — to come forward, saying “it’s never too late to do the right thing” and reiterating that the family “still has hope” nearly three weeks into the investigation.
Authorities have previously described the suspect as a man between five‑foot‑nine and five‑foot‑ten with an average build, carrying a black twenty‑five‑liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. Multiple gloves found along nearby roadways are undergoing additional forensic analysis, and unidentified DNA located inside the residence is being compared with known samples from relatives and others with access to the home.
A federal court‑ordered search conducted Friday at a home two miles from Guthrie’s residence, along with a separate traffic stop in the same area, produced no arrests, though both actions were tied to active investigative leads. Authorities continue to field thousands of tips, and the FBI has increased its reward for information to one hundred thousand dollars.
