Michigan Set to Struggle With Bitter Cold and Lake Effect Snow Through Week’s End

Jan. 28, 2026 ~ Weather Channel Radio Network General Manager Scott Lawrimore chats with Paul W. Smith about this continuing cold weather that has blanketed Southeast Michigan.

DETROIT ~ Michigan will continue to face harsh weather conditions through the end of the week, with some areas receiving lake effect snow.

Many parts of the state will continue to receive bone-chilling winds as low as -15 to -25 degrees into the weekend, with many parts of the state under cold weather advisories due to arctic air hanging over Michigan. Western Michigan and the U.P. are set to receive more lake effect snow.
