NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2026 ~ Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived in a New York City courtroom for his first court appearance, pleading not guilty to multiple drug charges two days after the U.S. military arrested the nation’s leader.
Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, appeared in the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse on Monday in the Southern District of New York. They are facing drug and weapons charges, with the Venezuelan government also denying these claims.
Maduro and his wife were arrested during the U.S. military operation on Saturday, with the attack killing about 80 people, including civilians and security force members.
