DETROIT, MI ~ Veterans Day is a day to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Starting in 1919 as Armistice Day for World War 1 veterans, it was officially declared a federal holiday in 1938 before its name changed to Veterans Day to include all Armed Forces members in 1954. WJR highlights those who served the U.S. on Nov. 11.
