Nov. 11, 2025 ~ In a 60-40 vote, the United States Senate has agreed to a deal to tentatively end the government shutdown.
While the shutdown is still in effect, Sunday‘s vote was a big step forward to reopening the government after over 40 days of closure, with federal workers hoping to see relief after over a month with no pay. Six Senate Democrats caved to the Senate GOP by voting to reopen the government in return for a promise on a vote for extending parts of the Affordable Care Act, the main negotiating point for Democrats.
The bill will move on to the House for a vote, with House Speaker Mike Johnson calling on the chamber’s members to return as soon as possible for the vote.
