DETROIT, Oct. 11, 2024 ~ The 35th annual Detroit Goodfellows Tribute Breakfast took place Friday, honoring Henry Ford Health President and CEO Bob Riney as the Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year.
The event took place at Detroit’s Huntington Place to raise money for Christmas gifts for Detroit-area children in need, including the annual tradition of displaying their dolls. Money for a shoe program, dental program, and college scholarships at the annual fundraising breakfast. The breakfast was attended by U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-6), Wayne County Administrator Warren Evans, Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield, and other local leaders and dignitaries.

(CONTINUED) Riney, a 45-year worker with Henry Ford Health, was named the company’s leader in 2022. Under his leadership, the Destination: Grand project, a complete re-imagination of Henry Ford Health’s Detroit campus, has seen a major amount of progress, aiming to improve healthcare infrastructure and the future of health for the region.
“What’s really meaningful (about) this award to me personally is what the Goodfellows do,” Riney said. “At a time that we’re really feeling a lack of kindness in the country and a lack of empathy and civility, quite frankly, for each other, events like this remind us that there’s way more good-hearted people than not.“
