METRO DETROIT, March 3, 2025 ~ Fat Tuesday, more commonly known as Paczki Day in Detroit, may be more expensive this year due to rising egg prices.
A bird flu outbreak has caused shortages and price surges with eggs in the U.S., with eggs about 50% more expensive than last January, impacting one of metro Detroit’s most beloved pastries. The Three Brothers Polish restaurant in Plymouth will be forgoing their annual paczki specials Tuesday because of staff shortages and rising egg costs. Crain’s Detroit Managing Business Editor Mike Lee told WJR that consumers should also expect price increases this Paczki Day.
