EAST LANSING, Feb. 26, 2025 ~ Michigan State baseball (6-1) has checked into the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCWBA) top 25 poll for the first time since 2016, falling at No. 23 after a strong performance over the past weekend at the Kleberg Bank College Classic.
The Spartans achieved a 2-1 record during their time in Corpus Christi, Texas. They defeated Washington State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi handily before falling to UCLA in the final game of the Kleberg Classic.
Six wins in seven games is also the best mark for head coach Jake Boss Jr. and the green and white in nine years. Boss has only recorded one other 6-1 start during his tenure with MSU, coming in 2011.
MSU athletics as a whole has had a successful start to 2025, with baseball becoming the sixth team on campus to be nationally ranked.

(CONTINUED) Earlier in the year, MSU swept both of their series against Western Michigan and Monmouth, aiding the early season rankings push.
Junior starting pitcher Joseph Dzierwa has gotten off to a historic start on the mound, becoming the first Spartan to ever win back-to-back Big Ten Pitcher of the Week awards. The left-handed pitcher put up a strong performance against Washington State, recording a career-high 12 strikeouts while only giving up one hit in seven innings pitched.
In two games this season he has only allowed just as many hits and walks, while recording 23 strikeouts.
Next up for Michigan State is a spring break trip to Greenville, South Carolina. MSU will play eight games in 10 days, starting with a three game series against Harvard. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.
