LANSING, Feb. 25, 2025 ~ During her State of the State Wednesday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to ask the State Legislature to introduce a bill to limit cell phone use in public schools.
The cell phone limits would aim to improve student academic performance and limit harm to their mental health. A GOP bill introduced last year in the State House would have outright banned cell phones being used in classrooms, but it did not come to a vote.
