MICHIGAN, Feb. 6, 2025 ~ In a good sign for Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan‘s independent campaign, a new poll suggests a majority of Michigan voters want to vote for a politically independent governor.

Detroit Regional Chamber and the Glengariff Group, Inc. recently conducted a poll with 600 Michigan voters, finding that 63.4% of respondents agree with the statement, “Neither party is producing the kind of candidates that can get anything done. We should elect an independent governor that is not affiliated with either party that would be forced to work with both sides to get something done – even if it means the political party I usually prefer loses the governor’s race.” Duggan made a surprise announcement in December when he said he would abandon the Democrat Party in favor of being an independent candidate.
