DETROIT, September 30, 2024 ~ With the season set to tip off in a couple of weeks, the Detroit Pistons held their annual NBA Media Day to preview a fresh year featuring a new staff, new coach, and new players.
A multitude of changes happened to the Pistons organization this offseason, highlighted by the hiring of President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, and the signing of veteran forward Tobias Harris. On top of these additions, complementing the rookies and other free agents, the team is looking to bring back a fast and physical style of basketball that Detroit fans were accustomed to in decades past.
After signing a max rookie extension this offseason, fourth year guard Cade Cunningham had his first fully healthy break of his career, dating back to high school. Focusing more on strength training in the past couple of years, Cunningham has been able to take a different approach since having no trouble with injuries.
“I still felt rhythm from the season so building on that was a main priority,” Cunningham told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg. “Especially working on my shooting percentages and being better with my decision making.”

(CONTINUED) While only winning 17 games in 2023-2024, the team will look to build on the young core in place. Langdon noted that wins are ideal, but that is not exactly what he is looking for this year. The new head man wants to see his guys play tough day in and day out and maximize their individual strengths and progress as the season does.
The first preseason game of the year will be this Sunday at Little Caesars Arena. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
